Sunday Update 28/10/12

Held my first ever giveaway! | Cosy Primark slippers | Lunch at the Grandparent’s | Favourite perfume | Perfect combo | Saving these for Christmas Eve!

Have you ever had one of these weeks that you desperately want to be over and crave for Monday morning? (now I don’t often say that). This week was definitely one of those weeks. It started well and was pretty kind until Thursday/Friday. My brother had been out Thursday night and he went to uni first thing Friday morning so I hadn’t seen him since Thursday morning. My Dad rang me Friday morning asking me if I’d seen him, which I hadn’t. Then he told me that whilst he was out last night, he was beaten up. Long story short but after he’d left his mates to go home and went to  get some money out of an ATM. Whilst he was doing so, a group of 6 guys started filming him on their phones. After he told them to stop, they decided to punch him. He’s currently sporting a black eye, cuts and bruises. He took it pretty well actually (more than me) and joked that his pride is knocked a bit after getting beaten up by One Direction. It’s awful to think that anyone could ever hurt someone you love, never mind see the damage they did but the shock of it is wearing off. I hope their Mum’s are really proud of them.

I went shopping yesterday (hence the lateness of this post!) with my Mum. My brother and my Dad went to a car show thing in Birmingham with my Uncle and Grandad so me and my Mum went to the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds. It was one of the worst experiences of my life! I’ve been loads of times but it’s been years since I’ve gone at the weekend. A million people walked into me and it was boiling in every shop. I seriously never thought I’d make it out alive. But I did and I came home with a few goodies! I’m going to stick them in a haul post and show off what I got! I didn’t get loads but I treated myself with some of my overtime money.

I will wait for you

Jumper / Primark
Shirt (underneath) / George @ Asda
Shorts / New Look (old)
Boots / Matalan
Glittery socks / Topshop
Necklace / New Look (old)

I’m on an outfit post roll here! I hardly get the chance to do any because I’m either at work or slumming it at home in my pjs. It’s not that often that I’m wearing an OKish outfit and have time to take photos, but here’s another one for you!

I wore this yesterday when I popped into town with Anna. We went shopping for a bit and went to Starbucks for a drink and a cheese and marmite panini. We also popped into the new Topshop in Leeds which has just re-opened after knocking the old one down and re-building it exactly where it was before, only bigger. Kinda pointless but the new store is amazing. I bought 3 pairs of the frilly socks to go with my boots now I’ve got into the socks-over-tights trend.

I got the jumper from the Primark in Liverpool and I love the little elbow patches it has, cute! I’ve had the shorts since March and they’re getting pretty big on me now so I’m trying to get as much wear out of them as I can before they get ridiculous big. You’re probably bored of me mentioning my Matalan boots but I’ve hardly worn anything else!

Fireworks is 1 today!

Image via We Heart It - Edited by myself

Fireworks is 1 today! My first actual post was posted on 17th October 2011, but it was just a ‘hello’ post. My first official post was exactly a year to the day!

Time has gone so quick; I feel like I’ve been blogging for longer than a year! I’ve had so much fun in the past year and blogging is such an amazing experience. I’ve met some lovely people, including Cat who is just amazing and she is such a beautiful person.  I’ve learnt so much about blogging too and I’ve spent the past year developing my own blogging and writing style. I cringe at my early posts because they are a bit cheesy and a little bit awkward, but everyone goes through that stage.

Adding a big helping of extra cheese to my already cheesy post ~I quote Nicole Scherzinger a bit too much~, I couldn’t have continued blogging without support from people in the forms of comments and just general love. I’m not blogging for the feeling of hitting a certain amount of GFC followers or how many blog views I get, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a smile on my face when I see someone has taken the time to comment on a post or show how much they like my blog my following via GFC. It really does mean the world to me.

I’ve brought out the inner geek and saddo in me by scheduling this post to the exact time I posted my first official post. Little things…

We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Checked shirt / Primark (old)
Black skater skirt / New Look
Boots / Matalan
Tights / Primark (150 denier)
Burdundy sparkly socks / Topshop (really old)
Bag / Zara
Gold necklace / Primark
Gold bow bracelet / Primark
Navy pea-coat / Primark

What’s this, a proper outfit post?! Finallyyyyy. I digged out a tripod that belongs to my Dad and decided to shoot some half decent photos. It was miserable weather and it started to rain just before I shot these, so I had to wait until it had stopped and position the tripod in the doorway of my back door so my camera didn’t get wet. I think the next door neighbour on the opposite street caught me posing – awks! I wore this last Monday when I went with my Mum to the train station to see her off to Preston for a week. She’s going with work and she has to travel on a train on her own which she’s never done before so I offered to help make sure she got on the right train!

I’ve not worn a skirt outside the house in years and I was so conscious of having a ‘Marilyn’ moment with this skirt so I wore a long black vest underneath to try and help avoid flashing to everyone.  I’ve hardly worn any other shoes since I got these boots; they go with everything and are perfect for when the weather is rubbish! I got the shirt last year I love a good checked shirt! The colours in this one are perfect for autumn too. I felt really classy in this outfit too; I think my style has become more grown up over the past year or so!

Sunday Update 21/10/13

Outfit post coming soon! | Bloggin’ at my Nanna and Grandads’ | Retro | Union J, seriously fit!

It’s been a quiet week this week. It was the last week before payday (yay!) so I wasn’t planning on doing much. I got treated to amazing sausage and chips from the chippy on Tuesday when I house-sat for my Nanna and Grandad. I hardly ever go to the fish & chip shop, usually only when I’m at the seaside, but they are definitely the best takeaway ever, so yummy. I got my first two Christmas presents this week too! I got two books for my brother; one on science and the other on philosophy because he likes to think he’s a science geek!

Tomorrow I’m off shopping on my own. I’m treating myself to a Primark haul since I got paid on Friday and I might start getting properly into my Christmas shopping; always organised!

Have an awesome week lovelies!

Sunday Update 14/10/12

Nice cuppa after work | Outfit 1 | Bought 4 magazines in 1 day, oops | New laptop!| My bed is always at its comfiest when I have to get up | Nesting tins for my room | Outfit 2 | Left my Mum on a train on her own for the first time ever, heart-breaking!

This week’s update is late (again) because I spent all day Sunday relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. I was working most of last week and only had Tuesday off which I spent seeing my friend Danya. We went shopping, had lunch at Pret and then later we had a cheeky homemade chocolate brownie at this amazing little cafĂ© in the Thorntons Arcade in Leeds city centre which was really cute and had everything from muffins to olives. I didn’t notice the name but the lady who served us was amazingly friendly! I did a bit of overtime last week and racked up 47.5 hours which I like to remind my workaholic Dad that my working week last week was only 2.5 hours shy of his working week. My hours are back to normal this week so blogging will be back to normal.

As I’m typing this I’m not only doing it on my new laptop (!!) but I’m also at my Nana and Grandad’s because I’m house sitting for then whilst they’ve gone out for the afternoon. They still haven’t had their window replaced after it was broken when they were burgled 6 weeks ago so they don’t leave the house unless someone can house sit. I hate the situation that they’re in; no one should have to ever feel like they can’t leave their house without anyone in but of course I’m more than willing to look after it whilst they can get to go out. I’m getting treated to sausage and chips for tea from the chippy when they get back so happy days!

Also don’t forget to enter my giveaway to be in the chance of getting your mitts on a Dark Shadows blu-ray. The giveaway closes next Monday! (22nd Oct 2012)

Matalan ankle boots

I bought these boots in August whilst I was on holiday. I instantly fell in love with them and the 'cheap as chips' price tag! I’ve always wanted the perfect ankle boot and I’ve never found a pair until I saw these. They’re available in red and black too and I’m going to get the black ones when I get paid! I do find that sometimes they get a bit tight across my toes, depending on how much I’m walking around and how long I have them on for. I love the cute buckle detail on the sides too. They go with everything and i just adore them!

Time To Rise Clothing

I’m a massive fan of small clothing brands. It all started back in 2007 when I was 17 and I discovered Drop Dead. Even though I dress a little more ‘girlier’ now than I did when I was 17, I still love a good t-shirt! I recently contacted Ryan from Time To Rise Clothing* after I stumbled across their Twitter account and fell in love with the brand. He kindly gave me an introduction to the brand and some images to share with you guys!

Time To Rise Clothing is an extremely new independent clothing brand that was only established in August 2012. They have already established themselves as an up and coming clothing brand and have already been featured on Indie Minded, RAWTEE, The Fly Genesis and Geek Shirts. Not bad for two months work! Time To Rise Clothing pride themselves in having quality products with a real message. Their brand is built around two messages; “One life, rise now!” and “It’s time to stand up for what you believe it!” I love it when brands have a message behind the clothing because it shows that the brand is really reaching out to their customers.

Their debut tee, the ‘Dagger Tee’ is out now, priced at £10.99. This is insanely cheap, but they are currently limited edition so buy one now to get your hands on one! They also have a 15% discount offer; just enter “TTRCREW” at the checkout to grab a bargain!

*This isn’t a sponsored post. I haven’t received any goods from TTR for doing this post, it’s is purely about my love for the brand!

Sunday Update 7/10/12

One Direction week in The Sun | Always getting bruises thanks to work | Bloggin’ | Lemon meringue pie | Pretty collar detail | I was featured on Beauty Butterfly

I’ve been working 12-10pm shifts from Wednesday until yesterday so I’ve had no time to blog at all. This week I’m doing 47 .5 hours which are the most I’ve ever done in a week since I started working when I was 17. I’m trying to think of the money I’ll get when it’s payday, although I’m dreading how much the tax-man will take off me! I want to buy a new laptop because mine died a year ago and I’ve never got round to saving for another one, so I'm probably going to buy one with the extra money I'll get. Blogging on a desktop is awful! I’m going to schedule a couple of posts for the week because I hate only doing one a week like last week!

My parents have gone to Liverpool for a few days which means I get to play ‘house’ for a bit! I’m much more house proud than my brother, so I’ll be cooking the meals and tidying up after him, despite the fact that he’s technically older than me by two minutes!

SOS hair

I’m often told I have nice hair (seriously not bragging!), I’m quite lucky to have a really nice natural shade that people often ask what shade and brand I’ve dyed it. I also have natural highlights and its naturally poker straight meaning I don’t have to spend hours straightening it. But sometimes my hair is affected by the weather and so on. There are loads of factors that contribute to my hair becoming an absolute mess, most of which are my own doing! I wash my hair more or less everyday because it gets greasy really quickly (I don’t bother when I’m not going out, but it still gets washed at least 5 times a week), I like to brush my hair a lot and I play with my hair all the time too. Uh oh! As a result the ends of my hair can become quite dry and I have a few of the dreaded split ends.

Due to blogging, my former attitude to hair has completely changed. Before I had no interest in doing anything to my hair other than wash it but know I’m absorbed into the world of serums, masks and conditioners. I condition my hair a few times during the week and I also use the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance leave-in conditioner (review here) and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor once a week to give my hair some much needed TLC. 3 Minute Miracle leaves my hair feeling so soft and lovely!  On a night I lather 2-4 pumps of the Avon Advance Techniques Dry Ends serum (review here) on the ends and leave it to work its magic during the night. I usually use it 2-3 times a week and I don’t us it during the day because my hair is really thin and it feels really awful with it on so I only use it at night.

What products do you swear by for giving your hair some TLC?
